A quart defines a book format rarely used today. It originates from the period before the discovery of DIN A4. Its dimensions correspond to a quarter of a spread, a format of 22,5 x 29 cm. Several of the larger volumes are published in exactly this format.

 

The Quart Verlag (GmbH) was founded by Heinz Wirz in June 1999 and is located in the Denkmalstrasse 2. The publishing house is oriented towards books with a strong emphasis on architecture.

But humankind likes to reflect on its own actions, to come closer to understanding the mystery of things, by means of thought and speech. Quart Verlag publishes opinions, texts and essays that describe, analyse and ask questions. The publishing house also takes great pleasure in presenting buildings, landscape architecture and art, with the help of photographs, plans and sketches.”
